Spider-Man: Miles Morales Summary and Gameplay Tips

The game graciously begins by offering a recap of the previous title, which players are given the option to skip. Miles narrates his account of his father’s death and the release of Devil’s Breath serum over New York.

Miles Morales is characterized in the opening sequence as a stand-up kid who always looks out for his fellow neighbor.

The actual web-slinging is pretty autonomous. I would have enjoyed more advanced placement settings with maybe the added risk of fall damage. This was my first reminder that the game isn’t geared as heavily toward an adult audience.

Miles gets over-eager and the helicopter crashes over an intersection, freeing federal prisoners into the street. Somehow, there are no casualties and this insanely embarrassing fuck up is swept aside as an oopsie. Peter wrangles Rhino while Miles holds off the human convicts.

In this type of combat, you can pretty much keyboard smash through the whole thing. You don’t have much of a choice, as many of the combo sequences haven’t been unlocked yet, leaving only the traditional strike/dodge framework.

The Rhino sequence is a bit drawn out and repetitive but makes sense in the context of teaching the user boss mechanics. An entire apartment complex is set ablaze with no mention of casualty count. There’s a cut of J. Jonah Jameson running his lines-he’s a menace! -and for the first time, I’m beginning to think he’s on to something.

After leaving Rhino with Simon Krieger and Roxxon Corp, Peter assures Miles that he's goofed plenty of times throughout the learning process. Parker leaves for Symkaria with MJ to produce an article, leaving Miles with the title of New York's only Spider-Man. Despite all this, Miles is gifted a new Spider-Suit. The second part of the gift: Peter has set up holographic training simulators throughout the city.

Miles celebrates Christmas in his Harlem apartment with his mother Rio and friends, Ganke and Phin. When the power goes out on the block, Ganke distracts the women while Miles scales the building to fix the breaker.

Over the holidays, Ganke develops an app that coordinates with the new suit's OS, making it possible for Spider-Man to take requests. His first call: Uncle Aaron.

Uncle Aaron Davis Miles travels to Grand Central Station to reroute the trains and fix the sensor relay, hypothesizing that someone may be interfering with it. He returns to find that Uncle Aaron isn't fooled by his disguise.

Uncle Aaron invites Miles to Hell's Kitchen and gives him a flash drive with audio samples collected by him and Jefferson Davis. After taking a recording at the docks, players will be able to sample sounds from around the map to piece together why Aaron and Jefferson fell out.

Miles heads with Ganke to Rio's campaign rally, where Underground soldiers appear. An explosion occurs on a nearby bridge, breaking it and leaving civilians stranded. After saving the passengers, Miles discovers that the Underground are looking for Nuform, Roxxon's experimental energy source before making his retreat. Tinkerer Mural
He also learns that Phin became the Tinkerer to avenge the death of her brother, Rick Mason, who died from Nuform poisoning. Phin plans to bomb the empty Roxxon plaza to bring attention to the Underground's movement and the toxic nature of the fuel.

Aaron suggests that Miles go undercover to gain access to the Underground. Seeing no other way, Miles asks Phin for a tour.

Underground's HQ was seized from Kingpin following his arrest in the previous game. After slipping away and into his Spider-Suit, and clearing out the training grounds, Miles gains intel on Underground hideouts and the whereabouts of the Nuform itself.

Miles plans to meet the Tinkerer face-to-face to try and avoid further needless confrontation, and find a mutual way to stop Roxxon without endangering lives.

But Miles isn't the only person after the Tinkerer. Uncle Aaron as the Prowler crashes the party. When she gains the upperhand, Miles is forced to reveal his identity. Underground HQ
Simon Krieger is working on a deadline to locate the capsule. Miles realizes that the source is unstable, and the blast radius covers most of Harlem.

Rhino makes his return, this time with red armor. Fighting Rhino head-on is almost useless against his Venom-repelling defense, and ability to see through your invisibility camouflage. You'll have to use the doge mechanic to instead lasso and crash him into the surrounding tanks.

Fearing the loss of his nephew, Aaron kidnaps Miles and fights to keep him away from the plaza and the reactor.

Before the boss fight, we enter a flashback of Phin and Miles at the science fair. Their project made the sold-out special exhibit, so the pair sneak in using tech collected in the convention center.

The final boss battle with the Tinkerer takes place across three different areas separated by cutscenes (and repetitive). Fill your Venom meter by dodging multiple successive attacks before striking or hijacking the turrets Phin deploys.

A month later, Roxxon faces numerous lawsuits and Krieger is arrested following Aaron's testimony. While they both ultimately receive jail time, Rio tells Miles that Aaron will likely get a shorter sentence for snitching.

That being said, I would have killed for the open map as a kid, and I’m excited for the next generations that will grow up playing these titles. It’s this widespread appeal that made Miles Morales Sony’s third best-selling title.

In a mid-credits scene, we see former mayor and Oscorp CEO Norman Osborn order a reluctant Dr. Curt Connors to release his terminally ill son Harry from stasis despite his unstable condition. In a post-credits scene, Miles leaves the science fair he won with Phin on Trinity Church in her memory.
