Skullcandy Crusher Evo: Review

Calling all bassheads:

I’d tried headphone models from Bose and Beats by Dre but still couldn’t find that thump I was looking for. At one point, I was so desperate to find something loud enough that I regressed into wired earbud territory.

It was TikTok that introduced me to the Skullcandy Crushers.

These "sensory bass headphones" run on an adjustable slider, so if you don’t prefer the feeling of two subwoofers strapped to your ears, you can avoid the potential overstimulation.

The Crusher Evos utilize a haptic motor. Though the Evos are not officially noise canceling, they block out or muffle most outside noise.

The Skullcandy app customizes an EQ to amplify the pitches you have trouble hearing and optimize the sound.

The battery life is advertised to last 40 hours, and I can confirm that at times it seems almost eternal. Each set is also equipped with a Tile tracker in case they become misplaced.

The only unanimous complaint from buyers relates to durability. Some owners recommend listening at a low volume to break in the headphones and allow the rubber to stretch. I'm willing to admit that I did not wait to test the bass slider to the max, but I haven't noticed an issue so far.

And of course, this headset is ideal for rap and hip-hop listeners rather than audiophiles looking for pristine treble clarity. The Crusher Evos are still a great tool for bassists or drummers to utilize in ear training.
