Summer X Games 2023 is an annual action sports event held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Long Beach, California. The three day competition streamed on YouTube and Twitch, and closely resembles the video games it inspired.
Women’s skateboarding is back at the X Games for the first time since 2000. This division skews younger, ranging from competitors aged 10 to 16. Arisa Trew made history as the first female to win double gold and the youngest since Shaun White.
BMX had many record attempts thwarted by flat tires with a few nasty knockouts, including Marcus Christopher and Brady Baker in the park competition.
Yuto Horigome took an early lead in mens street finals, sustaining the gold with a flawless run and a score of 95.66. Giovanni Vianni made his rookie debut, leading Nyjah Huston in the first run. Houston came back in run 2. Jagger Eaton and Shane O’Niel struggled to keep up with the leaderboard.
Lil Wayne attended on days 2 and 3, but declined to interview for the stream. Bert Kreischer, a.k.a "The Machine," did pop in for a brief segment to wrap the games before and after Vert Best Trick. While the Birdman didn't make the leaderboard, he recieved a standing ovation from the crowd. Gui Khurry took it all again, landing a Judo 900 in his first run.
